Old Truck – Young Man

Here are photos of a visit by Jordie Swinford. Jordie is the son of Janelle and is a huge fan of custom hot rods. I took both on a ride in my 1941 Ford pickup with a radical Corvette 383 stroker. The added custom racing transmission and electronic fuel injection complete a very magical ride. Every time I take it out results in intense attention from so many people – waves, honks, thumbs up, and even some following to get a better look. This is my personal favorite body style in all of automotive history! Cat is a huge fan of it too even with access being so challenging in her condition. The truck is 81 years old so a great ride for this 75 year old coot.

Inkle Loom

This versatile loom is for weaving narrow items like hat bands, belts, purse handles and much more.

Please note the handle on the tension adjustment knob is an old door knob… this is a unique feature of all my inkle looms!

Fringe Twister

These tools are so handy and a big time-saver while making twisted fringe on stoles, scarves, blankets and more.

I have fringe twisters with 2-prong, 3-prong and 4-prong and have even made 6-prong on special order.

Thread Box

I began making this box as gifts years ago and it is still very popular. There is a compartment drawer at the bottom for supplies and sundries, there are pegs for spools of thread, there is 2 top slots for scissors and there is a cork on the handle for needles.
I can make this Thread Box in a variety of finishes.

The Knitting Jimmy

Yes, this is an decorative and elaborate version of the old spool and nails…. notice the little “mouse hole” for the resulting knitted piece to emerge while the Jimmy sits firmly on the table!

Floating Sue

These are called Floating Sue because a dear friend named Sue thought them UP!

These tools are used to weight down floating selvedges and they can hold a VERY large amount of warp, too. The warp can be wound around the top and ‘hooked’ onto the hook at the top to keep it from unraveling. If there is a large amount of warp, it can be wrapped around the bottom of the Sue, as well.

Hokett Would Work Hand Looms

These beloved little hand looms are great for sampling and making small tapestries. The slot sett is currently at 6 ends per inch, with some of my older stock set at 8 ends per inch until they are all sold and gone.

I currently produce 3 sizes of Hokett Would Work Hand Looms:

~ The Original, the first model and the most popular, measures about 7″ wide and 8″ long. The weaving area is 6″ X 6 1/4″. The looms are made from a variety of domestic and/or exotic woods, with Ebony at a higher price.

~ The Tiny, the smallest of my Hand Loom, measures about 4″ wide and 6″ long and the weaving area is 3″ X 5″. These little looms are made from a variety of domestic and/or exotic woods, with Ebony at a higher price.

~ The Intermediate, the largest of the my Hand Looms, measures about 9″ wide and 10″ tall with a weaving area of 8″ X 8 1/4″. This loom is made of Cocobolo wood unless otherwise ordered.

I have other sizes sizes available, limited to stock on hand.

Hokett Would Work Warping Reel

This reel has been “ebonized” as part of a custom order. Most of my reels are of maple, pine, or poplar or a mixture of them. Reels can be made to order of exotic woods by request, usually at a higher price. The old books advise that this size reel can handle up to 5 yards, but many weavers use them to measure 15 to 30 yards! Contact me for current price list.

An End Of Warp Shuttle in action!

This little shuttle is handy for any small projects and works well for low shed heights. But it was created for this purpose pictured here ~ To be able to weave that last little space at the end of your warp when you think you can’t weave another shot! Here my wife got another 5″ of fabric after she could not weave any more with her conventional shuttle!
